Affiliate Program Terms

These Affiliate Program Terms (“Affiliate Terms”) are an agreement between you and [LEGAL ENTITY NAME] (“ReviewScribe”, “we”, “us”) about promoting ReviewScribe as an affiliate. They add to our Terms & Conditions, which also apply. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data. By applying to the program you agree to these Affiliate Terms.

The short version

  • You earn 40% of each ReviewScribe licence sale made through your link, not counting tax.
  • A sale counts if the customer buys within 30 days of clicking your link.
  • Commissions become payable once the 14-day refund period has passed. Refunded sales don’t earn commission.
  • Always tell people you earn a commission, and never spam or bid on our brand name in search ads.

1. Joining the program

  • Joining is free. Apply from the Affiliate Program page with your ReviewScribe account. You must be at least 18.
  • We review every application by hand and may accept or decline it at our discretion, for example if your site or channel is unrelated to WordPress or ecommerce, or promotes illegal or harmful content.
  • One affiliate account per person or company. Give us accurate details and keep them up to date, including your payout details.
  • You’re an independent contractor. Joining doesn’t create a partnership, employment or agency relationship, and you can’t make promises or sign anything on our behalf.
  • Once approved, you’ll find your referral link and a link generator in the Affiliate tab of My account. Links add ?ref= and your affiliate ID to any page of our website.
  • When someone clicks your link, we store a cookie in their browser for 30 days. If they buy a paid licence in that time, in the same browser, the sale is credited to you.
  • If they later click another affiliate’s link, the most recent link gets the credit.
  • We can’t credit sales when the cookie is blocked or deleted, the customer uses another device or browser, or pays outside our website checkout.
  • Our records decide which sales are credited to you. If you think a sale is missing, tell us within 30 days of the purchase.

3. Commission

  • You earn 40% of the amount the customer paid for each licence ordered through your link, after discounts and excluding tax.
  • Commission is earned on orders placed while your cookie is active. Renewals and later purchases that don’t come through your link don’t earn commission.
  • You can’t earn commission on your own purchases, or on purchases by you, your company or anyone buying on your behalf.
  • We may change the commission rate. We’ll tell you by email at least 14 days before, and the new rate only applies to sales after the change.

4. Refunds and reversals

Commissions show as unpaid until the order’s 14-day money-back period ends. If an order is refunded, cancelled, charged back or turns out to be fraudulent, its commission is cancelled. If we already paid it, we deduct it from your next payout.

5. Payouts

  • Add your PayPal email or bank details in the Settings section of your affiliate dashboard.
  • We pay approved commissions [monthly] once your unpaid balance reaches at least [$50]. Smaller balances carry over to the next payout.
  • We pay in US dollars. Fees charged by your bank or PayPal, and currency conversion, are yours.
  • You’re responsible for reporting and paying any taxes on your commissions. We may ask for tax or identity information before paying, as the law requires.

6. How you may promote ReviewScribe

Good promotion helps people choose the right plugin. You may share your link in honest reviews, tutorials, comparisons, videos, newsletters sent to people who signed up for them, social media posts, courses and your client recommendations.

Not allowed

  • Hiding the relationship. Clearly tell your audience that you earn a commission, close to the link, as the US FTC Endorsement Guides, the UK CAP Code and similar rules require.
  • Spam: unsolicited emails, messages, comments or forum posts.
  • Paid search on our brand: bidding on “ReviewScribe” or misspellings of it, or using it in ad copy or display URLs.
  • Misleading claims, such as guaranteed Google star ratings, sales or rankings, or features ReviewScribe doesn’t have.
  • Fake or incentivised reviews of ReviewScribe, including on WordPress.org, without disclosing that you’re an affiliate.
  • Cookie stuffing, hidden links, pop-unders, or anything that sets your cookie without a real click.
  • Coupon or deal codes we didn’t give you, or pretending to offer a discount.
  • Domains, apps or social accounts that use our name, or pretending to be ReviewScribe or speak for us.

7. Our brand

You may use the logos and materials in our Media Kit to promote ReviewScribe, following its usage guidelines. Don’t change them or use them in a way that suggests we sponsor or endorse you beyond this program.

8. Ending or suspending your account

  • You can leave the program at any time by emailing help@reviewscribe.com. We’ll pay valid commissions earned before you leave at the next payout, if your balance reaches the minimum.
  • We may end the program or your participation at any time, with notice by email.
  • If you break these Affiliate Terms, we may suspend or close your affiliate account straight away and cancel commissions earned through the breach.

9. Data

To run the program we keep your application answers, payout details, the clicks on your links (with the page, referring page, time and visitor IP address, which we remove after 30 days) and the orders credited to you. Our Privacy Policy has the details. If you collect personal data from your own audience, you’re responsible for handling it lawfully.

10. Liability

The disclaimers and limits of liability in our Terms & Conditions also apply to the program. In addition, our total liability to you under these Affiliate Terms is limited to the commissions paid or owed to you in the 12 months before the claim.

11. Changes to these Affiliate Terms

We may update these Affiliate Terms. If a change matters, we’ll email you at least 14 days before it takes effect. If you keep promoting ReviewScribe after that, the new Affiliate Terms apply. If you don’t agree, you can leave the program.
